Frequently Asked Questions

+ WHY IS APEX MORE EXPENSIVE THAN OTHER RUNNING CLUBS?

APEX is not a running club; we are a Track & Field Club, with a training- and performance-focused philosophy. Our coaches are hand-picked; our athletes are invite-only. If you are reading this, then we already think that you have what it takes to be on Team APEX. For our Youth Program, we expect each and every athlete to compete in multiple regular season meets, as well as advance in a series of post-season meets, culminating in regional and national championships. These costs (meet fees) alone add up quickly, especially when the athletes compete in multiple events. In addition, for the athletes to receive the best possible coaching and instruction, the APEX coaching staff is constantly upgrading its knowledge and skills through various programs associated with USATF and NSCA.

+ WHAT IS THE AGE GROUP?

All ages are able to join Apex Track Club. The athletes compete based on age divisions established by USATF.

+ HOW LONG DOES THE SEASON RUN?

The winter season will begin in December and ends in March. The Spring/Sumer season begins in mid-march and ends in late-July.

+ WHEN AND WHERE ARE PRACTICES?

Indoor team practices are held Monday and Fridays from 7:00pm to 8:15pm at Episcopal High School. Outdoor team practices are held in Arlington, VA.

+ ARE PRACTICES MANDATORY?

Practices are NOT mandatory. We acknowledge that in this day and age we are all involved in numerous activities. However, practice improves performance and we encourage attendance as much as possible. We want this program to be what you desire it to be.

+ WHAT WILL PRACTICES LOOK LIKE?

Practices will start off with going through different warm ups followed by a workout for the different events. We desire for this to be a fun experience so we will try and be creative in making it fun and exciting, but we will also want to challenge them to push themselves to do things they may have never done before.

+ WHEN ARE TRACK MEETS HELD?

Track meets are typically held on Saturdays or Sundays. A team calendar will be distributed to the athletes upon registration.

+ WHAT DOCUMENTS ARE NEEDED?

In addition to the online registration form, athletes must provide a copy of the following by the first day of practice:

  • Copy of health insurance card
  • Copy of annual doctor physical
  • Parent Code of Conduct
  • Apex Track Club Waiver

  • WHAT SHOULD THE ATHLETES BRING TO PRACTICE?

Athletes should wear loose athletic clothing (weather appropriate), running shoes, a bottle of water and a winning attitude. Parents can feel free to watch practice.

+ WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY?

In the event withdrawal from the team, or the season, is necessary, a partial refund will be considered. Dismissal from the team, based on misconduct, will constitute forfeiture of the registration fee.
